Chennai – Velankanni – Pondicherry – Chennai
Discover a different side of South India on a journey combining spirituality, Tamil culture, coastal landscapes and the unique French heritage of Pondicherry. The journey takes you from Chennai along the Bay of Bengal to Velankanni, one of India’s most important Christian pilgrimage destinations, before continuing to the charming former French settlement of Pondicherry.

    Day 1

    CHENNAI → VELANKANNI
    Arrive at Chennai International Airport, where you will be met by your driver. Begin your journey south through Tamil Nadu to the coastal pilgrimage town of Velankanni.

    After checking in at the hotel, visit the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, the spiritual heart of Velankanni.

    The shrine is associated with centuries-old traditions surrounding apparitions of the Virgin Mary and today welcomes pilgrims from across India and around the world. It is also a fascinating place to experience the unique meeting of Catholic faith and South Indian culture.

  • Day 2

    Day 2

    VELANKANNI PILGRIMAGE
    After breakfast, spend the day discovering the sacred sites of Velankanni.

    Visit the Basilica Main Shrine, Morning Star Church and Our Lady’s Tank, associated with one of the traditional stories of the apparitions of Our Lady of Good Health.

    Later, continue to Velankanni Beach for a walk along the Bay of Bengal.

    The day is intentionally relaxed, allowing enough time not only to visit the pilgrimage sites but also to experience the distinctive spiritual atmosphere of Velankanni.

  • Day 3

    Day 3

    VELANKANNI → PONDICHERRY
    After breakfast, check out and drive along the coast to Pondicherry, a former French settlement and one of South India’s most atmospheric cities.

    After hotel check-in, explore the beautiful French Quarter, known for its colourful colonial villas, tree-lined streets, heritage buildings, churches and cafés.

    Continue to the seafront and enjoy an evening walk along Promenade Beach, where the historic quarter meets the Bay of Bengal.

  • Day 4

    Day 4

    PONDICHERRY → CHENNAI
    After breakfast, visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, one of Pondicherry’s best-known spiritual centres.

    Later, depart for Chennai.

    Depending on the flight schedule and available time, an optional stop in Mahabalipuram can be arranged en route. This ancient coastal town is famous for its remarkable rock-cut monuments, temples and sculptural heritage.

    Continue to Chennai International Airport for your onward flight.
